Private Practice with a Purpose
I love being a speech-language pathologist. The flexibility -to work with all people, ages, disorders, settings, to schedule, to be creative or structured, autonomous or collaborative -it’s all so appealing to me. Working in the field has enriched my life in ways I never expected. I knew after working with hundreds of families and starting my own family, I wanted to start my own private practice to give back to my community in my own way. But to be honest, creating my business plan for Heart & Soul Speech was SCARY. What did I want the business to be? What could I expect? What was my purpose?
These huge questions started to consume my thoughts and dreams for my business. And then into my ‘real’ life. My business is a reflection of ME. What if people don’t like it; they don’t like me? What if they don’t understand? What if I fail?
I felt overwhelmed and vulnerable. I needed to create a clear and purposeful philosophy-one that described my dream business AND my personal principles. Wayyy easier said than done. Talk about some serious soul-searching, research, long talks with friends and family (thank you), and mindful meditation. With humbled grace, I came to accept I had known my foundation all along.
Serve others with your whole heart and soul.
I truly believe my purpose in this life is to empower and uplift others, share and teach knowledge and skills, and provide natural and sustainable services. That is what my private practice is founded upon and why I decided to open my own business.
Principles of Heart & Soul Speech
At Heart & Soul Speech, we partner with individuals and families with speech, language, feeding, and hearing goals. We use a naturalistic approach and evidence-based strategies to support our treatment plans. Caregiver coaching and supported practice allows families to continue growth in environments outside of therapy sessions, and therefore live with increased confidence and independence.
It is our responsibility and privilege to serve you. With our heart. With our soul. With everything we got. Thank you for letting us be a small part of your journey and purpose.
